Prince William has recently been referenced as “a bit of a shouter” by a close insider at the palace, with some remarking that he has a “notably short fuse,” according to Mirror.
What does this revelation mean for the future king and his subjects? Here’s what we know.
Per the Mirror, many heated rows have been see between William and Kate. Journalist Robert Jobson was quoted by Mirror confirming this, noting that “they both have extreme mood swings.”
“Just as Diana did,” Jobson noted. “She could be your best friend one minute and the next, your worst enemy.” Despite this revelation, Jobson notes in his book William at 40: The Making of a Modern Monarch that Prince William and Kate are in love, forging and maintaining a strong partnership — they simply have differences that can lead to disagreements.
Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, shed some light on William’s temper for readers as well. The book went on to recollect and explain a row that had happened prior to his marriage with Meghan Markle, eventually resulting in a physical altercation prior to the wedding.
Additionally, Prince William was spotted confronting a photographer in 2021 — accusing him of stalking and filming their family while they were out together with their three little children.
“You want to have this altercation, you can have this altercation,” William stated as he attempted to defend his family. After a rebuttal from the photographer stating that he just realized who he was filming, William snapped back: “No you didn’t, you were out here looking for us! Don’t pretend!… How dare you behave like (that) with my children? How dare you!…you’re outrageous and disgusting, you really are.”
The Prince attempted to reach the police for backup, warning the photographer to stay away.
Upon further investigation by writers at the Mirror, a close, anonymous palace aid confirmed that he “can be a bit of a shouter when he loses it” and that William has a short fuse in general.
The anonymous source continued, explaining to the Mirror that the Duke and Duchess are incredibly passionate and forgiving, which can lead to short and quick arguments at home.
Per the Mirror: “It’s fair to say the Duke and Duchess give as good as they get if their disagreement results in raised voices. But they know each other so well, it usually blows over quickly — and she is, on the whole, a major calming influence on him.
Jobson went on to tell the Mirror that he believes that Kate is the primary grounding presence for the prince, noting that “she gives him confidence.”
“There is no jealousy (or) friction — they are happy for each other’s successes.”
The future princess met William over two decades ago during their time together at St Andrew’s University. According to multiple media outlets, Prince William went on record noting that she was “special.” The pair had been able to start off as friends and housemates prior to their romantic union, according to the Mirror.
Could this claim be dismissed as palace gossip, or could it be something more?
