One of America’s biggest convenience stores is running a free giveaway today.
On Thursday, July 11th, a Texas-based, US-wide convenience store chain is giving away a beloved Summer favorite drink.
What You Need To Know About The Giveaway
7-Eleven is inviting customers to get free Slurpee drinks to celebrate its 97th birthday on July 11th.
The convenience chain said customers would be entitled to a free small Slurpee at Stripes, 7-Eleven and Speedway locations.
Eligibility For Giveaway
The Slurpee giveaway is limited to one drink per person. Marissa Jarratt, executive vice president and chief marketing and sustainability officer at 7-Eleven, Inc. gave more details in a press release.
She said, “Slurpee Day is more than just a birthday celebration for 7-Eleven; it’s a beloved tradition that brings communities together.”
Inspiring Artwork
The free slurpee drinks are accompanied by designs from Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals National Champion, Nolan.
In a news release, the chain said the artwork is aimed at bringing awareness to 7-Eleven’s principles and growing support “through in-store fundraising campaigns.”
Who Designed The Artwork?
The 7-Eleven website states, “Our 97th birthday calls for something special—and nothing has been quite as special as our relationship with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®. That’s why we’ve enlisted the artistic talents of 7-year-old Champion, Nolan, to bring you an exclusive cup for your FREE small Slurpee® drink on 7/11.”
They add, “At the age of 3, Nolan was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a cancer that develops in the retina. Nolan’s left eye was surgically removed, and he was fitted for a prosthetic eye, his “superhero eye” as he likes to call it. In August of that year, he started chemotherapy at CHRISTUS Children’s and completed his treatment in time for his 4th birthday.”
Excitement on Social Media
On social media, customers reacted with excitement at the free giveaway – with it being boasted as a great way to beat the heatwaves affecting parts of the States.
Meanwhile, Dayton’s Police Department posted photos of their officers enjoying their free Slurpee. One X/Twitter user from outside the US bemoaned, “Why can’t my country do something fun like this?”
